Friends of Animal Care and Control

Want to help improve the lives of animals at the shelter? Get involved! Once your volunteer training is complete, you can walk, play, and train these awesome pups to make their transition to home life seamless. The Adoption Center would love to have friendly faces taking dogs for walks, getting them socialized, and giving them a break from the kennel. Plus the dogs will appreciate it, too!

Warm Hearth Village

They have several different opportunities across campus from mini manicures, delivering meals, hosting socials and special events, calling bingo, running crafts and helping out our Quality Assurance staff with documentation and answering phones.

Micah's Backpack Program

Micah's Backpack Program welcomes volunteers to pack and deliver food on a weekly basis during the school year. Weekly packing takes place at St. Michael Lutheran Church, located at 2308 Merrimac Road in Blacksburg. Bags are packed Wednesday evenings from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Teams of 6 to 8 volunteers will gather every other week to pack approximately 80 bags filled with nutritious food for students in our community who are experiencing food insecurity.
